Treetop Adventures
Quick Summary
"Indiana Jones mode, activated."
Rui's experience
This is one of those experiences that makes you wonder how you lived here for so long without knowing it existed.
Right beside Lagoa das Furnas, in the middle of that green, humid, dramatic landscape, you suddenly find yourself climbing into the trees. And not just a little bit. You’re walking on suspended bridges, balancing on wooden logs, sliding through cables, moving from one platform to another with nothing but forest under your feet.
From the ground, it looks insane. From up there, it feels epic.
They give you a proper safety briefing before you start, and you’re always clipped into a continuous safety line. It looks dangerous, but it’s actually very controlled. You can’t just unclip yourself by mistake. It’s designed so even distracted people survive.
There are several levels of difficulty. If you’re scared of heights, you can stay on the lower circuits, just a few meters above the ground. If you’re feeling brave, you can go higher and start looking at the treetops instead of the forest floor.
At some point you stop thinking about fear and start enjoying the ridiculous fun of it. You’re moving through the trees like some slightly out-of-shape Indiana Jones, trying to look cool while your legs are shaking.
It’s physical, but not brutal. It’s adventurous, but not reckless. And it’s surprisingly addictive.
I strongly recommend it.
