    Azorean Sour Soup

    Quick Summary

"Very traditional. Definitely not for me."

    Rui's experience

Sopa azeda is one of those old-school Azorean soups that some people swear by. Some say it started in Faial. Others claim Terceira. Either way, it’s very traditional. Back in the day, this was considered poor people’s food. It’s basically a soup with everything inside. Different types of meat, chorizo, beans, sometimes small potatoes, sometimes pumpkin. It’s heavy. It’s dense. It’s a lot. For me? It’s way too much. Too many flavors fighting at the same time. Too intense. Too chaotic. And let’s be honest, you don’t really see this in restaurants. Mostly people make it at home. I wonder why 🙂 But hey, if this is your thing, go for it. Knock yourself out. It’s just not for me.
