Alabote
São Miguel Island
"A safe bet with a sea view that does most of the talking."
Rui's experience
Alabote has been around for years in Ribeira Grande, and that says something. It’s right by the sea, and when the weather behaves, eating outside here is ridiculously good. You’re basically dining with the ocean in front of you. If it gets windy, which it often does in the Azores, you move inside and still keep a beautiful view of the sea and the beach.
The food is regional and solid. Not a 100 percent wow, more like a strong 85 percent. But here’s the thing: it’s consistent. It doesn’t disappoint.
I’ve been going for years and I always leave satisfied. Not blown away. Just satisfied. And sometimes that’s exactly what you want. A safe choice, especially in the summer.
Pros
- Incredible sea view, inside and outside
- Consistent over the years
- Good regional food
Cons
- Can be windy outside
- Not a top-tier “wow” experience
