Boca Aberta
São Miguel Island
"Amazing views, brutal prices, and honestly not worth the hit"
Rui's experience
Boca Berta is one of those places that looks incredible at first glance. The location is insane, right by the sea, with views over a fishing pier that are hard to beat. You can eat inside or outside, and either way, the setting delivers.
But then you open the menu… and yeah, reality hits hard. The prices are ridiculous. Not “a bit expensive”, I’m talking proper five-star hotel prices.
It feels very clearly built for tourists, not locals. The food? It’s good, but not even close to justifying what you’re paying. I had codfish, and yeah, it was decent, but nothing memorable.
Service didn’t help either, no effort to guide or suggest better value options, just a nod and that’s it. Honestly, this is the kind of place you go once for the view, and that’s enough.
My Pro Tips
- →Go for a drink and enjoy the view, skip the full meal unless you’re okay overpaying
