Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo

A tiny island about 1.2 km off the coast of Vila Franca do Campo, with a natural lagoon in the middle that looks fake until you’re inside it. It’s a protected area, birds, wildlife, the whole deal.

Access is controlled. There’s a daily limit of 400 people, boats go back and forth all day, and the season usually runs from June to October. You don’t just “show up”, you plan a bit, and that’s exactly why it stays special.

The water is insanely clear, calm, and easily one of the best places for snorkeling on the island. No noise, no chaos, just unreal nature doing its thing.
