    Probably the most famous place in the Azores, and for once the hype is justified. Lagoa das Sete Cidades sits inside a massive volcanic crater and, despite what everyone says, it’s one lake, not two, just visually split by a small bridge. It’s huge, dramatic, and packed with things to do.

    Trails, kayaking, viewpoints, and even a small village down in the crater with cafés and restaurants. Magical, iconic, unavoidable.

    Pros

    • Absolutely stunning views, from above and at lake level
    • Massive area with trails, water activities, and viewpoints
    • You can easily spend hours here without getting bored

    Cons

    • Way too big to properly see everything in just one day
