Lagoa do Canário is a cute, small lake on São Miguel, and that’s exactly the appeal. No drama, no epic scale, just a calm spot surrounded by greenery. You can park the car nearby and walk a very short, very easy trail. No effort required. The surroundings are beautiful, quiet, and feel natural. And thankfully, there are no cafés, no bathrooms, no vendors hanging around. This is not a place you’ll come back to ten times. But because it’s literally minutes away from Sete Cidades, it makes total sense to stop here. You’re already in the area, so why not get more out of the trip. It’s not the star of the show, but it’s a really nice extra.
