Nonnas Teeth & Tomatoes
São Miguel Island
"Homemade-style pizzas with weird combos that somehow work."
Rui's experience
Nonnas Teeth & Tomatoes has one of the weirdest names you’ll find in Ponta Delgada, but don’t let that scare you. This place is actually a very solid pick if you’re craving pizza.
First thing you notice is that the pizzas feel homemade. The crust is good, the ingredients don’t taste industrial, and the menu is massive. There are tons of different combinations, including some that sound questionable at first, like pizza with cucumbers. Strange? Yes. Surprisingly good? Also yes.
The place itself has a cool atmosphere. The layout is a bit unusual, but in a good way. It feels relaxed and a little different from the typical pizza spot. During the summer especially, it leans into a bar vibe. You can grab a drink, sit outside, and casually destroy a pizza while watching the city move around you.
It’s right in the center of Ponta Delgada, which makes it very convenient. Parking exists on the street, but finding a spot can be a bit of a gamble. Worst case scenario, you park a little farther and walk a few minutes.
Overall, it’s a fun place. Good pizzas, fair prices, and a laid-back atmosphere that works well for both dinner and late drinks.
