Nossa Senhora da Paz is one of those viewpoints that just works. Clean, well positioned, and with a view that immediately explains why people stop here.

From this spot you get a beautiful overlook of Vila Franca do Campo and the Ilhéu. City, ocean, and islet all lined up in one frame. As far as viewpoints in Vila Franca go, this is the one that gives you the most complete and balanced view.

It’s especially good for photos when the weather behaves. Everything feels open and calm, and the perspective is hard to beat.

At the top there’s a small chapel. Getting there means climbing a lot of stairs. It’s not mandatory, but if you do go up, the view improves even more since you’re slightly higher. Take it slow, enjoy the climb, and the reward makes sense.

If you’re spending time in Vila Franca do Campo, this stop is basically unavoidable.
