O Avião is one of those classic restaurants right in the center of Ponta Delgada that locals and tourists have been visiting for years.
The atmosphere is actually pretty nice, very traditional, relaxed, and with friendly service that makes the place feel welcoming. I went there specifically to try the bife à regional. It was decent, but honestly? Nothing special. For around 17€, you can definitely find better steaks on São Miguel.
Maybe other dishes on the menu are stronger, I can’t judge that part yet, but based on my experience, this isn’t one of those “you absolutely need to go here” restaurants.
Solid enough if you’re nearby and want traditional food, but not a top pick for me.
