Pitèu
São Miguel Island
"A restaurant that looks decent at first, but the food and service just don’t live up to the price."
Rui's experience
Pitèu is one of those places that seems promising when you first walk in. The atmosphere is perfectly fine, nothing spectacular, but not bad either. The problem starts when the food arrives.
The restaurant offers both buffet and à la carte options, but the overall experience was disappointing. The dishes lacked care and attention. For example, the codfish came with chips that were completely soggy instead of crispy, which is something that should be basic in any restaurant. My tuna steak was not terrible, but the presentation was poor and the wine that came with the meal was honestly quite bad.
Service didn’t help the situation either. There was no warmth, no smile, and no one even asked how the food was. For the prices they charge, the experience feels clearly below average. In São Miguel you can easily find much better restaurants for the same money.
Pros
- Decent atmosphere
- Buffet and à la carte options available
Cons
- Food quality below average
- Poor presentation
- Service feels cold and inattentive
- Prices too high for what you get
