Rui's experience
Chá do Porto Formoso is one of the two tea plantations you can visit in the Azores. Compared to the more famous Chá da Goerreana plantation nearby, this one is smaller and feels more rustic, but that’s part of the charm.
The place sits above the north coast and the view over the tea fields and the ocean is fantastic. Inside you can see how the tea is produced and even stop for a drink in their small rustic bar. At the moment some parts of the building are under renovation, so don’t be surprised to see a bit of construction happening, but the visit is still worth it.
