Praia da Amora
São Miguel Island
"Pure nature. Zero mercy."
Rui's experience
This beach is in Ponta Garça, Vila Franca do Campo, and honestly, it might be the only beach in São Miguel that’s completely untouched by humans.
Why? Because getting there sucks. The access takes around 20 to 30 minutes, the path isn’t friendly at all, and you really have to want it. Last I heard, the access is actually closed right now.
I went many years ago. What I remember is raw, wild, beautiful nature. No comfort, no help, no easy way in or out. It’s not a beach you casually visit. It’s a beach you commit to.
Pros
- Truly untouched
- Wild and raw
Cons
- Very hard access
- Long walk
