I’ve been coming here for years because part of my family lives in this area, so this isn’t a one-off opinion. Água D’Alto is one of the longest and best beaches on São Miguel. Big stretch of sand, good water, and it actually feels like a real beach, not a tiny postcard stop. Parking runs along almost the entire beach and there’s also a newer parking area. Sounds perfect, but here’s the downside: in summer, especially on weekends, parking is a pain. The beach itself handles crowds well, the parking doesn’t. Come early or expect to waste time circling. There’s a really nice beach restaurant and the overall vibe is great. If you get the parking right, this beach is absolutely worth it.
