Terra Nostra Garden Hotel

Terra Nostra Garden Hotel is easily one of the most beautiful places you can stay in the Azores. Interestingly, it’s not just about the hotel itself, it’s about what surrounds it.

The hotel is located in Furnas and sits right next to the famous Terra Nostra Garden, which in my opinion is the most beautiful garden in the Azores. Add to that the iconic Terra Nostra hot springs, and you basically have two of the island’s biggest attractions inside the hotel grounds. During the day the garden and hot springs are open to the public, but later in the afternoon they close and become exclusive to hotel guests. That means you can enjoy the hot springs almost alone, sometimes at night, sometimes on a cold winter evening, which is honestly an incredible experience.

The hotel itself is very good. The rooms are comfortable, very clean, and the sleep quality is excellent. The design feels a bit classic and slightly outdated, but that’s part of the hotel’s traditional style. Staff are friendly and professional, and the hotel restaurant is also very good if you want to eat without leaving the property.

Of course, all of this comes at a price. Terra Nostra Garden Hotel is one of the most expensive hotels in the Azores. Another downside is the location. Furnas is beautiful, but it’s far from the main cities and there isn’t a fast highway connection, so if you plan to explore the island a lot, you’ll spend extra time driving back to Furnas every night.
