Let’s be honest. I’m not a tea connoisseur. I don’t sit around comparing floral notes or debating oxidation levels.
But I grew up drinking Azorean tea, especially the black tea from Chá Gorreana, and I genuinely love it.
It’s strong, clean, slightly earthy, and perfect on a cold, foggy island afternoon. Or any afternoon, really.
I don’t have a big comparison with teas from around the world. Maybe that makes this review biased. Fine. I’ll own it. But when something grows on your island, on volcanic soil, with Atlantic humidity, and you’ve been drinking it for years, that counts for something.

You can buy Chá Gorreana in basically every supermarket in the Azores.
But if you want the real experience, go straight to the source. Visit Chá Gorreana in São Miguel. You can taste it for free, walk around the factory, and even do a small trail through the tea fields.
It’s vintage, it’s authentic, and it feels like stepping back in time. Don’t just go there to drink tea. Go for the full experience.
